What are the chances that an organic farmer from Atlanta, GA and a sustainable fork maker fall in love and get hitched? 100%. So is the story of Farmer D. & Stephanie whose true Farm to Fork Wedding was one of my favorite green weddings I had the honor of planning this year.
Their Story
Stephanie Bernstien-Joffe is CEO & founder of To-Go Ware, whose company produces reusable utensil and food carriers for our lives on the go, and whose products come from recycled materials.
Daron Joffe is CEO & founder of Farmer D. Organics, an environmentally friendly, socially responsible business that creates farms and products for the earth and its people.
Their Vision
Stephanie and Daron wanted a venue that reflected who they were as a couple and where their guests from around the world could experience a true taste of their values and lifestyle. Their venue needed to have a variety of spaces to host the different rituals they were organizing, luxurious accommodations, and a place where an organic farmer can feel at home.
What better place then family owned and operated certified organic farm and working vineyard, Campovida located in Hopland, CA? This venue couldn’t be a more perfect place to host such a dynamic couple.
The Ceremony
Stephanie and Daron had a Jewish ceremony that incorporated beautiful ancient rituals. When guests arrived on the grounds, the men were escorted to the barn while women were escorted under a huge oak tree.
The men and women had time to offer wisdom and blessings before the groom was brought to his bride for a ritual called a Bedeken.
From here, the guests walked together to the ceremony site…an exquisite leaning arbor that made for the perfect natural chuppah.
As part of the their ceremony, Stephanie and Daron incorporated the tradition of 7 blessings by providing a fig tree that family members and bridal party planted, watered, and blessed together. I don’t think there was a dry eye in sight.
Farm to Fork…
The ceremony was followed by a cocktail reception with a jazz/swing quartet in the lovely gardens of Campovida. Guests wandered amongst the gardens, orchards, and flowers while enjoying biodynamic wine from Campovida and eating organic food, some of which was harvested straight from the gardens.
Customized To-Go Ware utensil sets served as escort cards & guest gift. The perfect green offering from the earth conscious couple…
In keeping with the vision of Farm to Fork, Stephanie and Daron’s guests were treated to a delicious family style dinner by Back to Earth Organic Catering, whose owner not only introduced them, but also happens to own an organic catering company committed to serving only the freshest, local, seasonal, and sustainable food.
Dragonfly Florals did a stellar job of incorporating Stephanie’s wishes to have organic, seasonal, wild flowers & vegetables. The centerpieces were inspired by farmer’s market stand displays and had a variety of wild flowers, herbs, and berries that grow at the Dragonfly Farm, located in Healdsburg, California.
This truly was a Farm to Fork night to remember….
